Olympics should include marching drumming as a discipline... And I´m not saying that as an insult. I bet many sports-guys/gals would dig it too...

Seems like it's from another planet entirely. This would be met today with smirks, derision and countless psuedo-viral web articles about how stupid it all is.

Dion Derek was one of my very first big inspirations. His mix of funk feel and hard rock attitude paired
with great and intricate playing made him an instant fav of mine. Here he is with his mom and pop playing
in Denmark back in 1990. And of course his mom, Baby Jean Kennedy is a force of nature.
His fills in the opening to Somebody To Love (@ 6:45 and 6:52) are simple but they sound and feel SO good:
