Todd Sucherman on the Blushda

This is an interesting take on the Blusdha, lots of variations on how to orchestrate it. I found it funny when he said it's not a toy. Hmm, I wonder where he got that from... :D

I’m flying down to Austin the week after Thanksgiving for a private lesson with Todd. We’ll probably spend a 1/2 hr on the blushda as it’s a lick I know how to play but seriously underuse!

Hanging with Todd in his fabulous drum shed was..outstanding! Just the best drum hang.. he was VERY complimentary of my playing, technique, etc.
We talked A LOT about Steve Jordan, Steve Smith, and Peter Erskine.
Did a lot of Chaffee exercises.
Playing his kit was a riot. It’s big but very compact feeling. And sitting in front of that wall of snares?! Amazing.
Talked about nervousness, anxiety, and breathing.
LOTS of great concepts.
I left feeling better about my playing than ever before.
It was light and easy, and I felt like I hung out with (and made) a friend.
When he does it again, consider spending the money/making the trip. It’s worth it.
