yeah...his studio is very close to Studio City (Spud area)
Hope he didn't have gear at home...nevertheless, it was
his HOME! Can't imagine that plane ride from NY to LA...
must have felt like me flying in when I got that call my mom
was dying...loss sucks at every level.

Drum community is TIGHT...brotherhood! Simon will get loved
on and helped. All of this still reminds me of Allen H's family seeking
help for his funeral...unacceptable! Gotta support the community...
even it means BUYING a CD or T-Shirt or...

I'm sure his house insurance will cover the fire. Still, it's got to be devastating to lose everything.

"After playing the first show of Protocol's US tour at the Iridium, in NYC, I received several frantic messages of the Thomas fire from my fiancee Billie Rainbird as she saw the sky turn orange from behind our house, frantically grabbing things, fleeing from our home within 20 minutes with our beloved dog Bear.

Just a few hours later I received another devasting phone call that our house, studio and everything had been burned to the ground.

At this juncture, I do not know what insurance will cover and I fear getting our lives back together will take much more than we can imagine.

We are in tremendous shock, going from disbelief to devastation to denial.

We are very grateful for all the support and love we are receiving from around the world. We are truly touched and moved. Thank you.

Any support you can provide to help is deeply and dearly appreciated.

With much love - Simon and Billie "

Why the fuck even bother to go on the gofundme page and fund the smallest amount, JUST to be able
to write such miserable shite?

Because some people are truly horrible? This turkey might see some blowback. Some aholes on twitter just caused a porn star to commit suicide, or triggered it at least. One told her to kill herself...then she did.

Simon's touring schedule is brutal, you don't do that while you have enough cash to sit around. I dunno, maybe he does, but he is out there working A LOT.

EDIT: This is the quote he placed on his FB. "Secular Humanist that believes in equal rights for all humans. Love & empathy is all that matters..."

OF COURSE.

These conversations rarely end well, but...
1. That guy is an asshole who never got his singles together!
Jealousy is an ugly character defect! If you live in CA, especially
So Cal, most people think everyone is rich, if you are on TV you are
a millionaire, etc. Simon MUST be a millionaire because he is a
famous drummer, etc. I said it earlier here, if anyone should have
been wealthy it was Alan Holdsworth for his musical contribution.
Clearly, he was not. Justin Bieber is, Alan was not. Life doesn't make
sense.
:|
(I have been waiting to use this for some time now...)

2. CA fire ins is VERY expensive. You roll the dice. His location was not
a high risk fire area...this was a freak fire. Earthquake ins also expensive,
sometimes you roll the dice. CA is way past due for a large earthquake...
it will happen soon, so, if you could choose one or the other, I would go
quake ins first. A friend of mine bought a million dollar home last year
and a fire came right to his backyard. We had the fire insurance discussion
at length.

3. It doesn't matter how Alan or Simon spend their money...his house burned
down. Everything I have ever saw on Simon displays a man of dignity, charm,
kindness towards people. He is the model of character for a high profile
musician. I am sure he struggled with a Go Fund Me page...it is humbling.
The man is a WORKER...

4. Nobody probably knows his medical expenses. Simon has had health related
issues. The music world does not have the best medical coverage, one might
think his involvement with "stars w/deep pockets" would help or offer help...
that rarely happens. He might have dropped 100's on K's for medical bills and
because of that (noted by Lang) he has to work like he does.

5. Give or don't give...Give Blood? No, give green. That dude was cold displaying
his own shadow on Simon...small man among many...Youtube comments have
shown how humanity can be the best and worst...that guy has NO voice...NO
power...a sad troll wannabe unwilling to take the log out of his own eye...they
are all the same. Simon didn't get as far as he has letting a comment like that
impact him.

I'm out...

If he doesn't have insurance he should just say so, or at least say why he needs the money (medical reasons, offset tour costs, temporary housing, etc.) $200,000 is a LOT of money.

California has been declared a disaster area which frees up funds for relief along with FEMA.

Agreed that 200k is a lot, but I´m sure it would be a TON of money (on top of the insurance money) to get up and running (w/o talking about the lost profit of having the studio closed for who knows how long)

Some people have strong opinions about this... :(

Let’s remember that 200K in CA is not the same as it is valued in the midwest. It seems to me to be a modest amount actually.
