Saw the show a few nights ago. They played for about an hour and twenty minutes, and in that time, played FOUR tunes, interspersed with a bunch of soloing. I really wish they'd play more music and keep the wanking under control. Stern's catalog is massive.

FWIW, Mike's set has been 4-5 tunes + encore for pretty much 2 decades now.

If you say so. I've been to see Stern about 20 times since around 1994, and I honestly feel like he used to play more tunes.

Did u see him at the Spud? I have noticed the baked potato gigs can be
really loose jams at times...tons of serious hard core wanking to "get
it out"--when Steve plays there they work though tunes which I like...
not a fan boy of those extended solos from Mars...

I don't think Stern (or Weck) ever play the Spud. Catalina's as long as I can remember (back to the old Catalina's).

It’s entirely possible — I started working for him around the These Times record (‘04), and it’s definitely been like that since then.

Mike’s a creature of habit, to be sure. :)

While I appreciate Tom Kennedy's playing for his virtuosity, I sort of miss Jeff Andrews and Weckl together
around the Between The Lines-album, where I saw them a handful of times over 2 years. MAN, what a rhythm section <3

AI was always a fan of seeing Jeff Andres' as well. I think he's teaching somewhere now.

Not sure if this was posted here before but there's too many pages for me to figure it out so whatever.

I like how how Chick, Patitucci, Gambale, and Merienthal (no idea if I spelled all those correctly) are all chill as F that mullet Weck is basically owning every note they improvise.

^^ Yeah that concert with Mike Pope is pretty crazy - I remember the first time I saw it. Weck before he got rid of the percussion on the left!
