I'm an idiot for staying in this thread. Those Andy Milne clips are perhaps the most boring clips of elevator music I've ever heard.

But seriously, I'll leave this thread now. Sorry. I honestly didn't mean to troll.

That's cool Jeppe, art is subjective... Don't apologize for being yourself. :)

They must have some seriously hip elevators where you live. Do they play Weather Report in your doctor's office?

Andy Milne puts out elevator music?

How....novel.

Please let us know what you have done to push the envelope.

I don't' hear any personality, that would let me know who he was if I closed my eyes.
The open-ringing un-tuned snare bugs the heck out of me and his left-hand trad grip technique is un-schooled,
similar to Copeland's except for the crucial powerful backbeat that made all the difference.

Similar to Robin Dimaggio, Russ Miller, Gregg Bissonnette and others, he has great skills but (TO ME) very little personality.

Those three drummers that you cite are three drummers who are paid to loose their personality and play whats required for the music. I'm not that familiar with Robin's playing, but Gregg and Russ display a massive amount of skill and that's why they have been called for really big gigs.

I get what Morgenthaler is saying...also agree that Miller, Bissonette,
even Bisquera are not the "sexy" personality drummers we gravitate
towards and make threads about.

Unless you play in your own band, you gotta deliver the goods...
and that means playing what a producer wants for his project
under a time restriction. Who you gonna hire? Cats that can
deliver the goods--quickly, efficiently, and generally are drummers
that are enjoyable to be around. Russ, Curt & Greg are three of
the nicest dudes you will ever meet, a skill usually not covered
much in musical schools or instructional DVD's.

My buddy hires these guys at a major studio...he never talks about
them as drummers, but does about how cool they are to be around,
especially Greg...and hires him because 100 other guys can play the
parts, but Greg makes everyone around him happy.

The personality drummers are much more sexy...
The character drummers blend in, and work longer...
Few can do both...those who do rise to the top we usually call legend!
