Wow Weck with a China cymbal not stacked is super rare - interesting to hear that sound in his playing.
EDIT - wow it is the stack - but usually sounds different. Weird.
The official Live In Barcelona with Dennis is a special video for me so it's hard to compare but Dave sounds great on here.
The old Maple Custom 3 rack tom era - we all thought it was a step back from the recording customs back then (like when he just switched to Sabian).

Masterful drumming on here and I really some of these tunes. Love that this whole show is on here.

Same with me on the Live In Barcelona show. My favorite all around live fusion recording ever. If a DVD exists, I am getting it...

I purposely refrained from "... I prefer Dennis with this band..." or "... yeah he's cool but..." 'cause I really dig Dave's playin here. He's doing his thing and deserves praise without being compared...

DC fat groove/sound makes the difference, the music sounds big.
DW still does a great job indeed, but except on "Heavy Metal Be-Bop" with Mr Bozzio who's just AMAZING, DC is the man.
DW has a good/decent back beat, but he does not have a signature back beat like DC or Vince, I would say that DW did not play enough Pop/Rock music, or serious Funk like DC with the Funkadelic.

Well, he's still bloody Dave freakin' Weckl, a legend. :)
