Hey Gang,

I'm headed to New York for a long weekend (currently connecting in Memphis) vacation... anybody know of anything going on?

I was stoked to go to Birdland on Friday, but according to the website Tommy Igo isn't playing- wonder who the sub is?

Oh man, wish I was in town -- would be great to meet you face to face. BUT, here's what I know about off the top of my head:

-Adam Rogers (w/ Antonio Sanchez & Scott Coley) @ the Vanguard all weekend
-Oz Noy Monday night @ The Bitter End if you're still in town
-check out Guantanamera late night for some (usually) fantastic and authentic Cuban music, 8th ave btw. 55th & 56th

I was thinking about checking out a set at the Vangaurd one of these nights... I leave Sunday afternoon.

I'm staying with an old friend who lives literally right next to the Empire State Building... anything in that area worth checking out besides the typical touristy stuff I've done in previous trips? I recall there being a drum shop near Times Square too...

Any cool bars/pubs worth hitting up?
