Big ass Jo Jo interview
Re: Big ass Jo Jo interview
his pedal is an updated version of the internal spring rogers/camco design, nearly identical actually, just modern machining. i'm sure they'll put a hefty tag on it

Re: Big ass Jo Jo interview
I had the pleasure of spending some time hanging out with JoJo last summer, and he told me about his DVD which is all foot technique, and will be released this year, likely coinciding with the release of his new pedal...

Re: Big ass Jo Jo interview
During the interview he's talking about his experiences in New York.
Regarding the jazz scene (at 37:00) :
"...Miles died a year later. And then I realized...if I wanna play traditional jazz there might be five guys I can play with....these are the Italians...or Mike Stern...or Scofield...that scene.
Because with the blacks....as a pianist, if you're from Europe or white you can play...as a drummer you won't get accepted...it doesn't matter how well you play."

Im glad Jojo has the balls to point this out....Ive said this many times in the past to no avail ,but to actually hear someone who is one of he best drummers in the world acknowledge this issue is a welcome sight..
Unfortunately Jojo is correct in his observation.
There is nothing left to say.
