Garaj Mahal now has Sean Rickman on drums I believe. That guy is a monster of a player!

Sean Rickman definitely kicks ass. He has a weird traditional grip though. Seems to work for him anyway. Great player. I knew him before I heard Garaj Mahal, Alan Hertz (their previous drummer) was new to me and quite a cool discovery.

Last week, inexplicably, this song ran through my head:

I haven't listened to Dimeola for years!

Gadd didn't play on that track, so I listened to more Dimeola with Gadd.

I forgot how hot they were together, especially when they're doing the latin-inspired stuff.

That led me thinking about favorite drumming albums, and Pete Townsend's All the Best Cowboys Have Chinese Eyes is one them (with Mark Brzezicki and Simon Phillips):

I recently posted that you can't trust album reviews in most magazines lately. It seems they're always praising everything. Well, here is a great example of a reviewer (Chloe Papas) doing the right thing:

Lately I've been listening to a lot of modern soul jazz funk, like Nicola Conte:
