Of all the music Weckl does, this is by far my favorite setting to hear him in. Chick brings out the absolute best in the musicians he chooses to work with, but the his phrasing always seems particularly well suited to Weckl to my ears. I love Brian Blade and Marcus Gilmore with Chick in a trio setting as well, but Weckl always seems to have a very unique connection with Chick and Pattitucci.

Oh man - the worst example of gating! ^^ Fun seeing the Weck footage though - I haven't seen that before. That dry mix + gating really gives a clear sense of the touch of the player.
