That was really hard to listen to, though I found the sounds to be very creative.

I was about to start a topic on Guiliana - glad found this one before making a classic newbie mistake...

Guiliana captures my imagination in a way that really no one has for years - I sort of reached a saturation point of amazing drummers and drumming and stopped being overly inspired by anyone (except Vinnie, and even then with all this Ludwig Paiste stuff...) but he really shook me out of that.

I discovered him via Avishai Cohen Trio - their album Gently Disturbed is fantastic, I reccommend it to anyone who likes jazz. It's a tumbling, polyrhythmic sort of an album, beautiful playing all round, love it! For some reason the trio stuff doesn't show up too highly in YouTube results, so here's a great live performance of one of their tunes:

(For the impatient, there's a drum solo which starts around 3:45 in.)

Here also is a link to the audio of Ever Evolving Etude, which I can't find a live performance of but which is well worth buying http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0eK3TRtHMrA. Completely nuts. Makes my brain hurt and makes me smile at the same time.

That Spirit Animal video is amazing IMO. The depth of the groove there is nuts.

Get lost in this. Make sure to stick through to the second half of this beast -

They open with Herbie Hancock's Butterfly. I heard Gretchen and Mark are married?
