(dare I say) I was quite underwhelmed with the arrangement. It didn't move me in any way.
I do love how Vinnie still manages to squeeze in things like those at 2:52, but otherwise the thing as a whole was quite boring to me.

"The 3.5 million Dollar from the concert is wired to the Robin Hood Foundation" What concert? Or just the Letterman gig?

Vinnie rocks hard but Sting can't really do it for me anymore. The main reason I listen to Sting is because of Omar Hakim and Vinnie.
And that's good enough But I never understood Sting's preference for Dominic Miller but I can imagine his son is in heaven playing
a gig like this. Talking about getting exposed to musical experiences at a young age.

Another thing that I noticed is that Vinnie is hitting harder and harder. Especially in the clips from the other Sting thread. Even playing
with noise reduction windows / screens on a couple of clips. IMHO this doesn't sound too good. He almost chokes his snare and toms.
Playing wise, idea wise and execution wise he is still my number one drummer but this "slammin' the drums approach" gets to a point
that it doesn't sound very musical and even tends to sound like overplaying.

Was great to see a pro-shot video of Sting with Vinnie from this new era, I really hope they do a world tour and come to Hong Kong.

Hahaha, no not at all Rodge, sorry if this sounded weird, I am pretty sure that he knows what he is doing But I noticed this hard
hitting attitude since I saw him live playing with Herbie Hancock and IMHO it didn't suit the music once in a while. Then with Jeff
Beck live at Ronnie's and now with Sting it's like he's hitting the drums if it was his last performance to show who's boss. I know he's
boss and I love the attitude but soundwise I think it's not a progress. His transition from matched to traditional was an improvement
snare sound wise but today it sounds pretty similar to his snare drum abuse sound of the 80's. I guess it's a matter of taste.

So Sting is coming around Chicago in November, but I don't think I am going... They are playing Rosemont Theatre in Chicago and that venue has shitty acoustics (having seen Dream Theater there a couple of weeks ago, which was a terrible sounding gig - to no fault of the band). In addition, way too many concerts lately: Dream Theater, Marco Minnemann w/ The Aristocrats this past Sunday (killer show!!!), then Devin Townsend is coming up on the 19th, then seeing Opeth (maybe), then Cynic on the 12th of Nov, Medeski/Martin/Wood, also in Nov, Gary Husband, Marco Minnemann, and Steven Wilson ALSO in November... I am spending a lot of money lately. On the other hand, I have never seen Vinnie live and will probably regret not going to this gig, but money is fairly tight lately, especially with me expecting a child on Nov. 30th and all...

I am sure the shows will be stellar and I am envious of those of you who are going to see this.
