Vinnie signs deal with Paiste.

Take Vinnie with Zildjian. Word is Zildjian pissed him off, so he went and signed with Paiste. It's a shame that he may not see what his actions are doing. Again, Im not judging, nor am I gonna stop listening to Vinnie, but it is a crappy situation all around.

You're not judging? What would you call it then? I call it spreading unsubstantiated and false rumors. Vinnie has always been on great terms with Zildjian, and they will always be very good friends. Just ask Johnny D. to chime in about it.

I just don't agree and/or get your thing. Vinnie or any human being doesn't have to do anything. He doesn't owe it to you. He can bugger off sharpish from any concert and i won't think anything less of him. May be he has his reasons ... whatever. If memory serves he loves Tony williams ..... even on a bad night, even hitting the rims, even saying "Vinnie Colaiuta ? Who's he ?" The point is everyone iS making such a big deal about it. I think there are more important things to moan about. Vinnie has given so much, just let him have his own life and habits. What's the big whoop ?

I don't know what you guys think, but I really liked his set up he used with Chick. Don't know what they were .... Kind of on the thin and dark side. He actually had an open tuning thing happening on the bass drum which I also really liked ...

WOW...one of the last NAMM shows I was at he just did the Zidjian video that was playing non-stop.

HOD'ers can't seem to talk VC w/o "talking" VC. All I can say is this about our drum gods...they need
to be reminded of their position (power) in public. It is a discipline...if you go public
(NANN show) or gig, you have to remember the show ain't over until you get in your car or w/your peeps
in private.

I remember a little kid playing a kit at NAMM...a huge crowd surrounded...he played a groove and this one guy
said, "OH YEAH...RIGHT ON!!!" in a loud voice. It was Vinnie on the floor. All of a sudden, I saw grown
men turn into little boys...they had that "I have a man crush" on their faces and swooned him. That
is the power this guy has, especially on the drum floor at NAMM!

If you are at a NAMM booth, and don't want to mix w/t crowd...you have failed! Let the flames begin!
You are hired to represent...then do just that. If I do a gig at a store opening, and some kid wants to talk
after, it is a privilege to interact with him. Out of all the folks watching, it was that ONE kid that wanted
to talk. That's when the gig really starts.

I know famous people who know how to deal w/t public..."Hey thanks, but I'm w/my family and I don't
sign autographs now...another time, sorry." Simple as that.

This would make a great HOD short film...3 Stooges are drummers, replace hammers with Vaters...
at a gig and a fan approached w/a camera...beat the crap out of him with sticks and brushes...it's
all in the script and directing. Stephen Holmesburg is the man for the job...he's got the skills.

Do you really think Vinnie's failed ? Do you really think he does't consider others.
I think he knows and does lots more than you give him credit for. Just look on youtube with that young kid, playing at that place for challenged folk, talking about his christian stuff to his fellow christians ( I certainly don't follow the christian church thing but hey that's pretty cool for them ). I have seen him chilling with others and I have seen him also leave strait after the show in the back of a big car with a girly on either side.

I am into darker sounds and a softer feel which Paiste doesn't offer.

Actually they do. Try some of the Twenty Customs, or the Dark Energy, or the Traditionals. The Formula 602 stuff is amazing too. Paiste has several lines that sound incredible and completely different from each other.

I owned a whole set of the 20' s and at first I liked them. Later not so much...they felt ok just sounded thin. Some guys really make them work and love them.
