I think what I respect most about Virg is his ability to travel! How many miles does this cat
do a year? I can't even sleep in my own bed well much less a different hotel every night!

He needs to write a book on the hyper-active life!

Dug the Lalu stuff...again...Virg always w/four irons on the fire.

Here are some nice images and sounds from Virgil's recent 'Virgil Donati Experience' camp. If you know Italian
you'll probably get a lot more out of it... :)

Been listening to IN THIS LIFE every day in the car for the past three weeks. Took a very long time to get into this album. About 30 listens. Some tunes were great at the first few listens. The compositions are complex. Virgil's playing is out of this world. Once i put the CD in the car and gave it a chance I could absorb the music. I can't stop listening to it. My 6 year old has to deal with it when she's riding with me. Reserved seats at the Spud to see Virgil July 12th. Looking forward to it. I might stay for both shows. Fuck it. It's been a while since I have seen crazy good talent live. Curious to see what tunes they play off the new album. I want to hear all of them. If I have a gig that night gonna get a sub. Want to talk to him afterwards. Used to hang with the guy in the mid 90's. Super great guy!

Has Virgil gone for larger floor toms? Those two on the right look like 16 and 18 while the one on the left like a 14

He has been playing that configuration for the past 15+ years. 16 and 18 + 14 on the left.
In this clip, I'm not sure if the left was a 15" or 16". It always depends on the availability of drums in the area where he's performing, but
16 and 18 + 14 on the left has been his go to configuration for years.
