I watched it all - the Phil Collins doc - now.
I was really quite moved by the whole thing. Really, really solid work by everyone involved.
And SO many drummers weighed in throughout. Billy Cobham, Chad Smith, Simon Phillips, Gergo, Matt Cameron, Todd Sucherman, Chad Wackerman, Tommy Aldridge, and our very own Mark Pusey! <3 (among many, many others)

I am digging Benny Greb's signature beech wood snare. Of course, it is massively produced here, but it always sounds good whenever I've seen clips of it.
It reminds me of the early-1990s Trilok Gurtu Sonor 10" snare.

For sure - Nic will treasure that his whole life..... My observations:
1. I noticed he had Diplomats on all his toms. I wonder if that's what he always played, and how those would sound with Ambassadors or even Emperors tuned up.
2. Bummer they evidently couldn't secure the rights to play snippets of all those referenced tunes. Made it harder to visualize what they were talking about, unless you knew the tunes already.
3. Glad they mentioned the Tears for Fears, and Robert Plant sessions he did, which were awesome.
4. One of my favorite tunes he played was the studio version of "You Might Recall", off of Three Sides Live. From a groove, melodic, and lyrical standpoint. That line, "Maybe when you're older and you're thinking back, you might recall.. Did I act heavy, did I do right...." Really hits.....

He only used clear Remo Diplomats on his 8" and 10" concert toms. The rest were clear Remo Ambassadors.

I ended up taking a deep dive into Phil's work, especially w Brand X, his work with a big band, and so much
more. Very enjoyable experience.

Wow that's impressive Pocket. Indeed its unfortunate they couldn't get the rights.
Nick did a traditional Drumeo segment a little while back - I wonder if they used the music then?

^ I heard them live a few times. Brian Blade is out of this world. I love this unit. Lanois is a genius.
