Honestly, this is the best sounding DW kit I've ever heard...It's not "their" drummer, it's actually Denny Fongheiser but he was playing DW drums. This made me want a DW kit, and I bought a brand new one when I was 16...:-)

There aren't too many, I think :(

Coincidently, this is my friend Kasper, sporting his DWs. They sound great. (Jump to 25 seconds in...)

And here, another great dane, Lars Daugaard. (Jump to 30 seconds in...)

I guess I feel like a lot of people here, I just don't hear the "big deal" with DW drums. I mean, they are a good company that cares about their product....I just haven't heard a DW kit where I was like "woah!! great sound!". I don't have a problem with the snare drums I've heard - even in the clips above. As a matter of fact, I really liked Peart's (sig??) snare a lot...until I checked out the cost! I don't like the toms whatsoever...always kind of thuddy and dark and not full of life. Very controlled sound - which is a really usable sound I guess...but I dont like it. Drums sounds are so subjective, so whatever. I'm sure Virgil will sound just fine with his. He hits really hard - so his sound cuts out pretty fast anyways...it's not he has this open "ahhhhhhhhhh" sound ...the DW's will suit him fine.

Chester gets a decent sound. The floor toms sound good.

The toms in the Chester vid aren't really doing it for me (to put it lightly) but they sound good in the Danser vids.

^^It's the snare that sounds like crap to me...Not sure how anyone could think that's a professional sound.

It's funny, on Virgil's Facebook page, some have questioned if he'll do alright with DW pedals, implying that he is stepping down from the Eliminators.

While I play Eliminators myself, I am sure he'll do absolutely demonstrably fine on DW pedals. Back in 1997 he was playing the old Premier P277 pedals. Those worked fine:
(The crescendo intro roll and the insane fill mirroring the programmed theme at 0:41 get me every time. Even 17 years later - not to mention the
11/16 db pattern in Origin and The End)

^I've always love those performance clips...those drums sound great. And people would be mistaken if they assumed that the "gear" makes Virgil the drummer he is...:-)
