To risk paraphrasing Dave, don't think about the sticking so much as you think about the accent pattern.

That said, it sounds/looks like paradiddle-diddle style phrasing ... although in triplets at that tempo it's tough to tell the difference between a paradiddle-diddle and a 5-stroke roll.

It's a mix of 5 and 6 stroke rolls over (mostly) 16th note triplets.
Take Ted Reed page 38. Accent the figures over 8th note triplets. Get good at it.
Now play a clean double stroke instead of a single on all non-accented notes.

Write out a bar or two of this to help pinpoint visually where exactly the notes fall in relation to the quarter note.

Viola!
Maybe I'll make this my next vid topic.

Someone posted this, from a direct mixer sound (Mike Stern Band 2008)
And what a sound !!
Incredible solo.
(That photo of the video is mine by the way, taken in the same year in Spain, when I met Dave´s drum tech Lucas Ives)

That's something I recall Ed Soph talking about a gazillion years ago. If you can visualize it without writing it out it actually helps your reading chops.

The outfits never cease to shock me. Maybe they did it for tax deductions?
