The ebb and flow of Weckls solos the past 4 or so years are on a different level. His phrasings through the form are on a high level of intelligence we just can't execute cause we are just mortals. Some of his solos he plays the head of the song rhythmically. like 16 bars give or take. Then he builds from there and might reprise the head of the song to bring the band back in. No one can solo like this bad ass motherfucker. No one.

Agree on all points with Kurtis... with Oz, his mastery of form is especially highlighted I think because those Oz vamps tend to have such huge peaks and valleys. So much discipline going on with Weckl's solos in the form, but you can really hear it with Oz. When you consider how much headroom Weckl has in terms of chop, the way he uses it in the form is - like Kurtis said - on another level completely. He's a fine wine; there's a clear upward evolution in his mastery of the instrument over his career.

Thanks for the heads up... Only 4 shows!! Saw them in 1990 or 91, then in 2004 with Ric Fierabracci on bass... This band hit me like freight train back in 1986-87, memories... memories... I'd definitely go and see them again.
