Those aren't what I would call vintage. Vintage Gretsch mounts would be the rail consolette with the clip-on or those cheesy monster tom holders that you see on Tony Williams' drums in clips from the 70s. The mounts on Vinnie's drums have only been around for about ten years. He doesn't care for suspension mounts for a few reasons. Regular mounts work just fine and are much simpler. Suspension mounts make positioning awkward and over-complicate things in general.
When you order Gretsch drums, you have the option of installing different mounts with or without (directly to shell) suspension.
Yeah. Chris at Gretsch simply referred to them as "vintage style" hardware whenI wrote and asked.

I couldn´t resist and I edited the Gretsch Unboxing video, capturing some grooves that I could listen for days.
Vinnie plays many of them only one bar long, as if a cascade of groove creativity comes (his normal state) and I edited them...
My favourite is Groove 3 (Million Dollar Tom Note) and Groove 6 (Bonham in the House)
I enjoyed a lot doing this.
Vinnie for President !!

Is that Mino paying percussion?
Total genius, one of my favorite musicians ever!!!
I saw him an Vinnie play together years ago with Jason Miles' Weather Report Tribute band. They worked together nicely.

No, it's Rany Krija, sweet guy from Morocco I believe, he lives in Germany.
Wow, Vinne with 3 rack toms, I'm lost...
That color remind me Omar's Yamaha back in the days when he was playing with Sting, Manu Kaché had a famous Yammies with that color, I dig it.

And with weather report.....
You need a third rack tom now too?

. Just questioning, Did he got the idea for it when he played Ryan Brown's set (ZpZ)? Don't forget the additional floor tom next to the hihat. Well, the crash cymbal is back in its original place. So he didn't lost himself completely (huge amount sarcasm intended here). But what is next? Double bass drum? The older he gets ...... ?

If Vinnie has 3 rack toms i want 4.
Who knows, but on a sort of nostalgia tour like this with both Sting and Peter I'm thinking some extra toms might be just a "this tour thing".
Vinnie does change things around. I'm sure he plays both 4 and 5 pieces a lot. Most drummers, unless they play in on band and always have to do things exactly the same change things around constantly.
To me, the crashes on top were sort of the same setup, the size of the cymbals simply dictated a slight shift.
