Sounds way better than the roland.. Garage band kicks ass... The fist time I used Cubase took me a day to figure out vst connections..
I love that you can select something and it's preconfigured to go..

It works and sounds very good Steve.
And everything starts with those Yamaha PHX sounding AWESOME.
Which overheads mics are you using ?
They sound GREAT.

And from a very personal taste:
In the mix, I would increase the level of the close mics (SD, BD and TOMS).
This current sound will be perfect for jazz type sound, but I feel it very "overheads" for other styles like funk ("Groove me" type).

Post some pics/video of the gear used.

and those smalls toms are singing beautifully.

Floor tom sounds very low, i like it. would love to hear what it sounds like if you processed the kit heavily
like in a rock mix context...

I'm really blown away that the gear was that easy to setup. From your initial post of wanting to get gear to making a vid that sounds good in such a short time is really cool and gets my gears spinning about what I'd like to do.

Three things I love about this conversation.
1) That it is taking place, I've been looking for this info and it is all so helpful.

2) Starbucks was a key factor in the projects completion.

3) The hardest parts seems to have been figuring out the darn mic stands/clips. Love it!

Steve, I'm curious, what are the rough dimensions of the blue room? I have my kit set up in a bedroom that's quite long,( probably 15' long) but has a low (8') ceiling. I have another bedroom that's probably half that size or less but the ceiling is about 14' and want to know which is better for recording.
