A lesser known (maybe) record feat. Weckl

Ran across a cd called Pleasure Seekers w/Weckl and Patitucci from '91. It's an Andy Laverne offering.

I've heard of the cd but never have listened... anybody have this or heard it?
Maybe give a quick review.

Holy fucking shit! I love the album. I've had it the month it came out. Weckl had just moved to the west coast and this was his first studio gig. Weckl heaven from above. Some of my favorite weckl playing. Not because of ideas and chops but wow he was so musical! People really need to revsist Mr. Weckl! Give it a listen a few hundred times like I have. Musical bliss! I know some will say its soft and slow.

That Magic Fingers album is very good also. The drum sound is a bit muddy.

Is this with Chuck Loeb? I think I had it on cassette...if it's the one I think it is, yeah...outstanding. I have to look thru the "archives."

I just looked it up...with Bob Sheppard on tenor. Yeah, I do have this one too. It has a smokin' version of Parisian Thoroughfare. The album that I was thinking of was co-led by Laverne and Loeb titled "Magic Fingers" that also has Weckl...this was recorded a couple years before. Both are excellent...I'll have to get them on CD.

"On this CD, keyboardist Andy Laverne performs eight of his own compositions, one song co-written with guitarist Chuck Loeb, and Bud Powell's "Parisian Thoroughfare." Laverne's arrangements for the quartet (which also includes Bob Sheppard on tenor and various reeds, bassist John Patitucci and drummer Dave Weckl) use light funky rhythms and put an emphasis on melodic improvising. With the exception of "Chestnuts" (based on "All the Things You Are"), the chord changes are all new. Somehow the quartet (which had only first come together just a few days earlier) sounds like a regularly working band.
