Freddie Gruber book?

Postby gruvdoctr » Sun Jan 29, 2012 6:01 pm

Did Freddie Gruber ever release a book on drumming techniques? I saw mention that he did, but couldn't confirm it.

I've never heard of that but I would be curious to see and read it if it existed.

here's my guess: yes and no.

Yes, but it was customized for each student.

just a guess.

That's correct. That is why Don Ellis tried to get Freddie to write a book because he actually did write a book for each of his students. Notes on the hand exercises, bass drum book, B&M finger control, etc. on and on. He would comment on the exercises and on anything you would need to specifically work on within the exercise. I still go back and go through my notes from Freddie.

To the best of my knowledge Freddie never wrote a book outside of the notes in the books. It's theoretically possible that there is a super secret manuscript somewhere that Freddie wrote and that Nicholas Cage will find in his next movie.
