Playing devil's advocate, for the hell out of it, some outrage is justified by a venue's no video cameras allowed policy. The rule is in effect, but here's a guy standing close enough to be seen by everyone on stage with his camera trained on one guy like he's Sucker Gigging a fish.

Yeah, a pretty uncomfortable video to watch, for sure. Vinnie-you gotta take it as a compliment. The world is what it is and it's not gonna change. Phones can be used for video. People are going to use them. Said footage WILL end up on YouTube, posted by someone who's a huge fan of yours, who's excited, because your music means that much to him/her. You are filmed with love and reverence, sir!!

I remember doing something similar during a show. I was making goofy faces and clowning around on stage (which I later regretted and felt it was unprofessional).
I was in Junior High. The band director's wife told me she was disappointed by my conduct after the show.

Enough with this boring topic...more Holmes Jr High stories!

I assume those are K's because I definitely know those are A custom splashes. I can tell by the yellowish color and the shape of the bell.

Is there anything he can't do?

Again, the question becomes moot. You are VOLUNTARILY on a stage, under spot lights, at a huge gig.... it is not a drafted position. In fact Vinnie could never play a gig ever again, and be still very very rich. It's just stupid.

Don't want the attention? Don't stand under the spotlight.

I agree with this. It's such a conflict of interest to be a STAR PERFORMER and have issues with people filming you in 2012. Get. Over. It. Or (here's an idea) STOP PERFORMING. ON STAGE. IN FRONT OF PEOPLE. IN AN ERA WHERE CAMERAS ARE COMMONPLACE AND PEOPLE ARE INTERESTED IN SEEING YOU. VERY INTERESTED.

There might be reasons, but Vinnie is sort of living the life most of us could only dream of.

Childish and unprofessional.

Even if this guy was filming, there were probably a few other paying people at this show, some who may have traveled far and some may have had to save money for a while to go, who deserved a Vinnie who concentrated 100% on playing the music and sharing it with them.

Much as this may seem a bit crazy could it actually be that Vinnie knew the guy slightly and got him a front row place as long as he didn't film. You never know. I feel that Vinnie definitely had his reasons rather than it being his normal reaction. I could be wrong. I also feel that Vinnie puts his beliefs into practice and refuses to follow trends. Just because trends are the norm doesn't make them right. Vinnie strikes me as being highly reactive, like his playing. Yeah it could be the clams, but I'll certainly forgive any crankiness for a lifetime full of inspiration, action and enlightenment. He has given so much ...

Hell, Kurt Cobain shot himself! Fame can do funny things to people when there is so much demand for them. I think this is just Vinnie's reactive way of dealing with it. If you're not reacting you're not engaged, and that's not quality of life. You're also losing control. And I think Vinnie likes to have control. I mean who really wants to feel like they don't control their own life?
