I normally would have thought his attitude regarding this was exclusive
to smaller venues UNTIL he walked on stage at the larger outdoor festival
w/Herbie...that was pretty shocking, especially his language which took
the very Lord he worships in vain in his rant. Audience was shocked.
I believe this was fairly recent.
His sensitivity towards his craft which makes him great was sorely lacking
that particular day towards the crowd at hand. I understand his arguments
towards his position (an audio link was posted that I found sometime back
in which he went at length as to why he feels as he does). That said,
he is really wrestling with a losing paradigm shift that will only cause him
more stress, and I fear there will be those who will incite him with the
"red little light" as he continues to react as he has.
I mean, when his greatest fans found here are losing patience...

It's all good. He's not getting mad to the point where it's noticeably affecting his playing. We all have pet peeves, and less volatile people are probably more inclined to take up lawn bowling.

Don't want the attention? Don't stand under the spotlight.
I agree with this. It's such a conflict of interest to be a STAR PERFORMER and have issues with people filming you in 2012. Get. Over. It. Or (here's an idea) STOP PERFORMING. ON STAGE. IN FRONT OF PEOPLE. IN AN ERA WHERE CAMERAS ARE COMMONPLACE AND PEOPLE ARE INTERESTED IN SEEING YOU. VERY INTERESTED.
Very well put Steve, and right on the money.

Great player but honestly his reaction is pretty lame and silly.

no problem at all. the forum is all about gear talk, stickings, sticking heights, transcriptions, drumming youtube clips, vinnie gawking, vinnie worship, music, cymbals and drums. one quick FYI the song cheating the polygraph is not in 7/8.

Then Dave Weckl now ? Wow...

If you want to tape/record whatever you want, I'd say do it, but why not doing it with discretion ?
Then whatever you guys can think, at the end nobody know because you're not Vinnie, only him know, but if you see him ask him the question.
Some weeks ago in a drum clinic a guy ask, can I tape the event ? Guy said no. Then I said to the guys, don't ask, if you want to tape it, just do it but with discretion, that's the way it is.
But here the guys shooting the video should stop.
I come from Tain, Vinnie, Omar, Jeff, Fish, Stewart, and many more...
