That's exactly how I feel about it.
The sound and chemistry of the band is not great. Every time I watch
a clip of the Back To Bass tour I'm thinking that Vinnie doesn't feel comfortable.
Watching clips from previous tours with Sting (and Vinnie) feels like passion, watching clips
from the Back To Bass tour feels like the scene in the movie 'Groundhog Day' where
Bill Murray tries to find the exact same spot in the snow in order to get that kiss again.

Got tickets for my birthday for a festival show in June here in Oslo (the Norwegian Wood festival) in which the guys will be playing! Can´t wait to see Vinnie play again. But I will keep my video camera at home!! :-)

I actually dig the violin player, especially when she's playing tasty back up accompaniment. I can see how one would be turned off by the sound, but I find it to be a refreshing change on these songs that I've heard so many times over the years.
Moderation's all well and good, just don't overdo it.

yeah rodge, those two clips have some incredible playing on them. love the mad about you tune. every single bar vinnie plays is perfect. great ideas, groove and orchestration. have listened to that clip over and over through the years. stuff is still hip decades later. once hip always hip.
