I come from Tain, Vinnie, Omar, Jeff, Fish, Stewart, and many more...
Re: Gene Lake
Gene will always be one of my favorite drummers. I used to see him play with the Torsos in tiny clubs and Me'Shell in big venues - he always sounds great! I worked at the recording studio that recorded the Charles and Eddie album, and I used to listen to Gene's grooves day after day, while they were tracking. Never got tired of hearing his groove - he's not just a fusion cat, but a seriously soulful player (and a very nice guy too)...

That's awesome. What do you remember about the tracking of "Would I lie to you" ?

So that's who the drummer is here!
Really beautiful slow tempo stuff. I love that kind of drumming.
I think he was born thirty years too late.
He looks too big behind these modern day kits; one of those monster kits from the 80's would be a better fit.

I actually worked at the studio right after they tracked basics for that album... So I missed out on Gene's session, but I was around for the rest - the artists were very pleased with his parts.
