Wow, I like that solo even better than the one on the Ronnie Scott's vid. The boob is a bit distracting though.

The sound was abysmal. I hate The Roxy.

Tal sang lead most of the night, with another girl playing guitar and singing lead occasionally, playing music from her upcoming record (I guess), which is a major departure from her first release of instrumental music. The sound was so bad that I couldn't really tell what it sounded like. Her voice was quite powerful when I could make it out. I could only stand it for about 20 minutes before I split though. There was even a keyboard player on stage, though there were no keyboards coming through the speakers. Brutal. Whoever is in charge of audio needs to be shot.

Vinnie's drums sounded muddy (everything sounded muddy). He was playing his Ludwigs with Paiste Giant Beats. Straight, solid grooves for the most part. And loud!

I wasn't there when they played the tune in this video clip:

But in a good way - right?

The solo still gives me goose bumps...the part where the crowd realises just how good she is...

I was at the gig at The Roxy last Saturday too. And I concur with Paul. The sound was terrible and whomever was running sound that night should be embarrassed to call themselves an audio engineer. Regardless, the musicianship was stellar and it was nice to see Tal doing something outside of the norm (for her). I would really like to hear the album when it comes out. She made a fan out of me for her new works.

Personally I think it's quite shitty when attendees don't respect the clear wishes of an artist not to record their shows.

Paul - sorry you left so early. You missed Benmont Tench sit in on a song.

If you get a chance to see this band for yourself, DO IT! (Just leave your camera at home and your phone in your pocket).

Of all the rock shows in clubs in LA that I've played and attended in support of friends, the sound has been horrible at every single one so this doesn't surprise me in the least.
