Few interviewers have the ability to make the person they are interviewing completely comfortable enough to go beyond a "surface level". Steve, you got the goods! Great job, man! This made my year. I really dig how much Dave just let's his thoughts ooze out of him- very honest and organic. While the subject of being a musician vs a drummer is a common thread with a lot of the greats, Dave really has a simplicity and elegance to his thoughts and his playing- pretty heavy.

And he's SO FUCKING RIGHT about the clave stuff- it's everywhere!

Steve- have you considered doing more of this stuff? Perhaps in starting an HOD podcast?
