Pete has just released his new dvd which is available from his website http://pete-zeldman.com/
If you are serious about music (as I know most of the guys here are), and are open to innovation and looking for new ideas to take your musicianship to a new level this dvd is a must, there is nobody out there doing this stuff at this level to my knowledge.
I studied with Pete for years and can attest that he takes incredibly complex concepts and makes them accessible, and most importantly musical.
Highly recommended!

Thanks for posting this. Pete's great! Very original. I really dig 'Other Not Elsewhere' for all of its craziness. I really hope he releases a physical copy of the DVD. If so, I'll buy it.

I didn't even bother reading about it, or watching the previews. I ordered it as soon as I found the link.
Pete is an absolute master of rhythm, and has influenced many of today's top drummers.

The execution of his independence is spot on. At the same time I can program a machine to do what he's doing so I can hear it. It's helpful to be able to hear and play the relationship of how poly stuff works. Opens up doors. Don't need this instructional video. Its math for ears. I dug the links.

Pete does more concepts than just layering rates. It would be pretty impossible to program what he is doing because of his orchestrations, and how the related drum tones affect the sound, and create another layer in itself. As far as instructional, none of these videos show his teaching methods.

The link where he plays 5,6,7,9 with a whistle was cool. He's got tons of independence. I would like to develop more. I'm happy with being able to play 5,3,7,2. That took a while. Have never applied it to a gig or recording and never will. Hearing the relationships opens up your head. More freedom to explore possibilities. Gavin Harrison has done some cool stuff with PT playing this over that and also with his solo albums. There are quite a few players that play poly stuff and make it musical. I would like to hear more musicians playing this stuff cause its adds contrast and keeps your mind entertained.
If anyone has some recommendations for crazy poly rhythm stuff... Have heard all Mr. Bozzio's creations.
