We should buy that 15K package for Vinnie, so that Dave and Jay would visit him and take some pictures of him at his crib.

Here's an interview with Dave and Jay - which addresses some of the different aspects of the Pledge Campaign and why they're doing it:

11 days left and only 34% raised so far. Disappointing. How much are they trying to raise? Does it say anywhere?

I was also wondering about that. It's a bad idea not showing what the goal is. Kickstarter is doing it right >>>

They're at 55% of the goal, with 759 pledges. If everyone pledged the minimum (I think I pledged $100) that would mean the goal is around $20,000. I'm sure people pledged more than the minimum, so I would guess the goal is between $35,000 and $50,000. With one week left, it could be tough.

It's some hard time for giving money, even to your idol...
I come from Tain, Vinnie, Omar, Jeff, Fish, Stewart, and many more...

Yeah, this is a tough crowd. I guess if Buddy were alive today we'd be hearing, "Gawd, another big band swing album...I was hoping he'd be on the Duran Duran reunion tour." I'm not gonna be critical of what Dave and Jay want to do on their project. They have a certain writing style and that's what you get. Does anyone think they're gonna do a 180 on that? If I want to hear Dave in a different context I can hear him with Stern, Noy, Nomads, Brecker etc...So, yeah, Dave and Jay write the stuff you want to play on, then play your asses off!

It's not looking good for pledges...55% and less than a week. Steve O. or Lucas...do you know if there's a Plan-B involved? I dug what I was hearing and I was intrigued at the prospect of getting a dvd showing some of the production process. I've been kicking around some ideas for a project for the last 4-5 months and I'd be interested in seeing how they approach the creative and technical aspects on their project.

It's not a musical problem predominantly. In any case it's also a social media management issue.
Weckl has not been nursing his YouTube channel and keeping in touch with fans. So when announcing a monstrous project
like this one, he would've needed a dedicated following to pull it off.

And while he has a ton of Facebook Fans, they aren't animated on a regular basis, so they aren't ready to back a project
like this at the level it needs.

I am though quite surprised that only some 760 backers haven donated. Hard times indeed.

@Rhythmatist: I don't think people expected Dave and Jay to totally re-invent themselves. I know that I personally had hoped that
Dave wouldn't go back to Jay, because I think they have worked from a very limited artistic palate, thus falling into the same patterns
again and again, musically. This can be said of many artists btw.

I absolutely am in awe of Dave's abilities and would love to see him succeed
on a big scale again, but I also totally get why people aren't backing this project. It sounds dated and corny and the nursing and animation of fans leading up to
such a funding process simply has been lacking disastrously.
