Magically, 30 more days appeared. The pledge site would be dumb to end it. They are in for some cash, and probably a good little amount.

You can select any number of days up to 90 to reach your goal but we recommend between 30 and 60. If you fail to reach your target in the time you selected your project will close and be removed from the project listings, although it will still be visible to fans who pledged. Pre-order campaigns require only a release date.

Can I edit a project after it’s been approved and launched?

You can edit everything except the project terms and disclaimers, which would be like trying to rewrite a signed contract.

I feel duped in a way.

So pledgemusic broke their own rule. This doesn't feel right.

I do wonder if they'd've hit their target legitly if they'd used this innovative funding method to fund something more innovative. Obviously some people on here like / love fusion, others dislike / hate it, but whatever your view you have to admit it's pretty samey. Of all the things he could have done, this is the thing which will sound the most interchangeable with previous things he's done. Therefore, less likely to inspire people to donate.

I mean, just delay the snare hit to the 'and' between two and three, then add in some fucking awful keyboard sounds, and you're already some of the way there.

Originally, we set this up as a 30 day campaign because Dave has a tour coming up in late February. We didn't think a 60-day campaign would leave enough time for writing, tracking, and production. However: the Pledge Music people (who are awesome, by the way), made us look at it a different way.

80% of the goal has been reached in just 30 days. The average pledge is high, and Pledge Music has received hundreds of comments from pledgers urging Dave to do the project. These pledgers don't feel "duped" etc. as a FEW in here have suggested. They pledged because they WANT the music, etc. Another 30 days will likely bridge the funding gap.

So - Dave and Jay have agreed to begin working on the project with the idea that they can get a lot done while the funding still comes in. They'll also produce some media over the next month, something that helps drive more pledges.

Keep in mind that the typical Pledge Music campaign runs for 60 days, not 30. In fact, most crowdfunding projects do. It takes a lot of time to penetrate the built-in audiences with respect to Facebook, Twitter, e-mail lists, and all the partner media.

I mean, just delay the snare hit to the 'and' between two and three, then add in some fucking awful keyboard sounds, and you're already some of the way there.

How classy of you, "Wikiman." Sentiments that would surely enhance your blog. #noselfesteem #nogrammys #noclass

I understand completely why the campaign was extended, but it completely delegitimizes the whole process when you alter the contract's main differentiating point, which is that the money needs to be raised by a predetermined date, or the project is cancelled. I would prefer you just create a new campaign with new dates. At least that way it's all on the up and up. I love Dave, and want him to succeed, and I want this record to get made, but changing the deal willy-nilly is just wrong. It also makes PledgeMusic look like a sham.
