Hi All,
Is there a stick out there today that is really close to what Buddy actually used? Does anyone know the exact specs of what he used? Size / Length? Thanks!

I bought some buddy stix that I think Vic Firth put out a good 17 years ago. Bought two pair. Never used them. If I did on a pad. It's like a really thin bowling pin stick. No defined tip. Really thin in the taper of the stick. It's way to light up top for me. Unique stick for sure.

I recently purchased a pair of those VF Buddy Rich sticks they were 50% off. Not bad.

Thanks everyone! I've been doing some research...looks like most of his sticks were no bigger than a 5A?! Looks that way in most of the videos I've watched recently too! I'll keep searching around! Appreciate it guys!
Re: Buddy Rich Drumstick size?
I thought the OP was asking what stick did Buddy actually use. The Vic sticks came out years after he past away. I have no idea if they based it off of his actual stick model or not. Vic has a great reputation so I don't think they would just try to cash in off of Buddy's name.
Anyway, I've used the Buddy Rich stick for years. Only in the last few months I've began a search for something bigger.
There's no magical stick. You won't play like Buddy even if you had his last pair of used sticks. Try a bunch of sticks and eventually you'll find one that works.
or maybe you're a collector/historian or something?
Anyway, bamm!

Re: Buddy Rich Drumstick size?
A drummer buddy who plays in Las Vegas sent me photos showing the original BR model
and the VF version.
There is no relation.... nothing similar....it's a completely different stick.
Someone gave me a pr of VF Buddy Rich Sticks....for me it was TOO long.
I cut off 1/2" and it has a much better balance and feels much better.

Cool....I read an article too that said the VF model is not even close to what he used. It also doesn't look like he uses that type of stick in any of the videos I've watched! There's a blog on Drummerworld that explains it pretty well! I was just curious really...I'm NOT trying to play like Buddy! (Wish I could!) Thanks!
