I doubt this is new news to anyone or if it'll be helpful or not, but I take gigs under the "right" combination of the following three things:

1) The Money
2) The Music
3) The Hang

That's it. If there's good money involved and I don't like the music, I may still do the gig. If the music is great and the hang is great, I'll actually consider doing the gig for free or next to nothing. Maybe I don't get along well with one or two players in the group, and the money is okay, and the music sucks... I may turn it down. It's going to be a personal choice for each of us on HOD regardless, and everyone will have a different answer.

Based off of what you said about the gig, there's some money involved, and you're indifferent about the music. They asked you to do the gig, so they clearly think you can do it. I'd say go for it. If you do the record, get paid, and you're still not jiving with the tunes then suggest someone to do the live dates and peacefully back out.

Don't get involved with anything you're not passionate about, unless you absolutely need the money. If that is the case, take the gig and do it to the best of your abilities. Just know that your soul will die a little more each day if you really don't dig the music or people.
