I just learned from Sturla that Si-Phi is leaving Toto and they're recording their upcoming album with Carlock.
Interesting how he'll do there. I sometimes think he lacks a decent rock backbeat in some situations and I fear this could be one such situation.
But interesting, nonetheless!

Well they aren't afraid of changes. I thought Simon was quite a revolution, considering his feel and sound. I'm curious if Keith changes his set-up to get more rock sound.

Guess Simon is more interested in doing his solo thing instead of the toto hang. Shame cause he's lights out with Toto. He's the perfect drummer for that gig. Carlock? Will just to wait and hear. Let's hope this is just rumor has it.

I can imagine it taking on a more Porcaro-esque vibe.

I love Simon, but this will be cool. Great gig for Carlock!

I was with The "Toxic Monkey" band in NYC in their one week of existence (in that phase,) and can tell you that Like was digging the hell out of Keith. Toxic Monkey was a Bill Evans band that featured Luke, Keith, Will Lee, Weingart, and Bill. Yet was sort of like a Los Lobotomy's East Coast Edition. They played 3 (I think) Los Lob tunes, 1 BE tune, and 1 Hendrix tune per set. It was rockin really hard, and Keith killed it. Luke was GEEKED because (as he told me) he had heard so much about Keith, but hadn't had the chance to play with him, and was finally seeing-hearing what the "buzz" was about.

When I interviewed SP several months ago, he was a little "ambivalent" about TOTO, yet seemed pretty cool with their "part time" working schedule. It sounds to me like they are going full bore again (Now that Joe is on board and everyone is digging the singer situation again,) and SP don't want to really go "full time" TOTO. Remember SP's LOVE for recording and running his studio (hope he keeps doing the DVD5.1 mixes for the band, he's a GREAT mixer!)

Wonder how this will affect Keith's "other" gigs. Keith just had his second kid, so maybe the more work is needed, yet no one works more than Fagen (for many reasons, sorry can't say more than that.) Maybe just a nice change for Keith, and a way for Keith to get his name and presence around LA more.

Whatever..... Everyone sounds happy, no hard feelings, all is good, etc... Different vibe, but should be some really cool music. WIN, WIN, WIN!!!!

Wonder who's playing bass in the new Toto? I miss Mikey, what a great bassist, and GREAT guy! Hope he is doing as well as can be expected.
