Re: Official Virgil Donati thread
Two HODsters recently reached out and asked about Virgil's live recording gear.
He talks briefly about his RME gear here:
He usually uses only the Fireface 800, or sometimes add the Octamic 2 for added mic inputs.
He'll use kick, snare and 2 overheads for drums (occasionally some tom mics), a direct bass line, and one guitar line (depending who’s playing)
For Video:
Canon G10
GoPro Hero 3+
For Kiko’s clip he had Kiko's new zoom cam catching those close guitar angles.
He edits in Final Cut Pro X.

WOW Morg...that was really nice! VD's snare pops like a beast! Crawford's
bass sound so deep...loved that first tune...wish you had all of that. Excellent
guitar...loved this gig for VD.
What's with the ride/crash? New toy? Never seen this b4.

Do you mean the stacked cymbals? He's been using these in various combinations fairly regularly over the past
year and a half. If you go to Virgil's youtube channel, you'll see this in the last 10-12 videos: http://www.youtube.com/user/virgildonaticom/videos
(the videos are already in this thread so I won't double post them)

Re: Official Virgil Donati thread
No actual playing, just a few clips behind the scenes on the video shoot for the upcoming app ...isYOURteacher (http://isyourteacher.com/)
It's so nice to see Virgil and his old pal Irwin Thomas continue to work together in 2014. Fantastic guitarist.
There is however playing in this clip, from a recent Kiko Loureiro gig at The Baked Potato.
I particularly enjoyed the fill at 0:32-0:34

Here's the promo for Virgil's OTV - 'Anatomy of Live' show available as download and VOD.
A seriously blinding performance. Some Planet X tunes, a few from Virgil's new album and the best from 'Serious Young Insects'.

Older clip from one of the Bonzo Bashes these past years.
Virgil POUNDING out Kashmir. The feel shifts as soon as he returns to trad grip.
I really like this short clip.
