A video company was so impressed with Mike Johnston that they wanted to do a documentary on his life. As you all probably know, Mike has inspired countless drummers all over the world with his unique teaching style and innovative concepts. Mike is easily the most in demand drum teacher on Earth, and students of all levels have learned from him (including some of the big name professionals.)
Mike's has raised the bar of what can be done on a drum set, and even more so, how to effectively teach it. His hard work, complete dedication and humble attitude have proven that anything is possible!

I like everything that was in that video.. aspiring to be a great teacher is great..
That said....the only thing Mike has done is raise the bar on marketing... those that have been on house of drumming for a long time know that..
I see that video. And if I had never heard of him or had been on HOD for his pathetic forum war to increase web traffic on his site and raise his profile.. I would say that guy is awesome
Sadly I think the video company that was so impressed with him and his story is his own. ... Looks very similar to everything he produces. .
I think it's great that someone has worked hard and built a living from teaching. ... I think it's lame that along the way he built his brand using smear and bashing tactics on YouTube and forums using the same wording as in the
first post. .
His positive posting video on YouTube was great, once again if I never heard of him..I'd think he was great.. what an amazing message.. To bad it means nothing to people who have interacted with him on this forum or on YouTube pages ..

Mike's popularity (and playing) speaks for itself. Congrats to him for his success and ability to succeed in this day and age.
I haven't watched the documentary though, any good?

I can respect we all struggle with different things...What Mike may struggle with is not something a "good" drummer may struggle with. And I think he's geared his lessons to people that find playing a "struggle". Doesn't make them bad people at all and I hope they're getting their money's worth.
