Re: GAVIN HARRISON - Showing some NEW material
So you're just dismissing Craig Blundell out of hand? Assuming he can't be any good? Do you imagine Wilson hires incompetents?Kurtis wrote:Ordered tickets to see steven Wilson on tour today for the show in LA. Just read Marco and Guthrie won't be in the band for the U.S. dates. A tad disappointed. Steven should get a hold of Gavin for the US dates. That would make for a super fun night. People would come out in droves for the shows. Let's hope Steven calls up his old PT buddy and Gavin is free this summer
Re: GAVIN HARRISON - Showing some NEW material
When I posted marco wasn't doing the us dates they didn't say who was filling in. When Steven announced this Craig Brundell guy was filling in I googled some videos of his playing. Meh to say the least. Marco is crazy good live. Tons of energy and chops galore. Plays great with that band. And no Guthrie either. The top two cats in the band not on the bill. Music is great so it will be a great show im sure.
Gonna pick up Gavin's new album. Love the big band version of PT tunes. Cool idea.

Yes, of course. Stephen Wilson is notorious for hiring "meh" players, and Craig is in demand because he's so "meh".Kurtis wrote:Meh to say the least.

^ I've been waiting months for that to be released and it didn't disappoint. Just flawless playing, flawless drum sound, and really, quite a brilliant mind. He communicates so well, has such interesting ideas, analogies and infinite attention to detail.

Gavin is such a funny guy to me because I like everything he has to say, but I've never connected that much with his playing. Also, that intentionally super dry bass drum is just too dry for me.
