Took my a time, but that is a hell of a read. Printed it out for the future. Very well done. Gotta love white papers, I wish there was more of this kind of study done on musicians (drummers).

I was fortunate to have seen Elvin on a couple occasions. One of the sickest players ever. One thing that has to be kept in mind about Elvin when attempting to dissect his playing...it was driven by emotion...joy and heart. That ever-present ear to ear grin, and the sweat that accompanied the energy that was behind every phrase, every note. Watching Elvin play was like a religious experience.

While a lot of amazing drumming is purely emotion, what I love most about Elvin is what he brings conceptually and intellectually. His shit is unplayable. It's like RIngo, super creative and above the music yet inside it.
