Essential Jim Keltner?
Does anyone have any must listens for Keltner? I know very little of his drumming, just that it's great and he's revered as one of the best. The only album I can think of is From The Cradle by Clapton. He shuffles his ass off on that one. But, that's all that I have that I can think of.

So much good stuff. The Frisell album Gone, Just Like a Train blew my mind. I used put that on to fall asleep to, his playing floats and the less you listen the more you hear.
This track is nuts.
This is cool.

Josie is the definition of PERFECTION. Only Keltner could play this groove.
The ultimate example of less is best, creativity and hearing something

Both Frisell albums, 'Gone, Just Like a Train' and 'Good Dog Happy Man' are fantastic with Keltner playing with a multiple snare drum setup.

Nice! Checked out the Frisell albums, great stuff. I wore out the Frisell, Holland, Elvin record in college. Love that dude.
Didn't know it was Keltner on Dream Weaver! And, of course, Josie. That's hot shit. Thanks guys. Any more? Keep 'em coming!

Dream Weaver was a seminal tune in my youth. I was pounding sand in hard rock cover bands with the likes of Priest and BOC, and when I'd hear that song on the radio I realized there was so much more to drumming that was beyond my ability to articulate. "Little by Little" by Plant, with Hayward, reminded me of that the year I drove West for school.
Re: Essential Jim Keltner?
If I remember right, I think Keltner played double drums with Joachim Cooder on record called Mambo Sinuendo by Ry Cooder and Manuel Galban. I used to listen to that record all day during one summer a few years back and it kind of became a soundtrack to lazy summer days for my wife and I. You're not going to hear a lot of hip drum shit (usually won't with Keltner anyway), but the grooves are DEEP. I'm no Cuban music aficionado, but I loved Buena Vista Social Club and picked up Mambo Sinuendo when it came out based on that. Keltner has a lot of history with Ry Cooder (John Hiatt and Little Village). I'm at work right now, but I'll try and dig up some links later.
