Way to stop people film live gigs?

The patent describes the camera detecting an infrared signal and interpreting the data. One signal could be used to disable both still photography and video recording.

Apple patents a lot of stuff it never really uses, so it doesn't necessarily mean it's technology we'll see in the near term, but it's definitely interesting. In the context of preventing illegal or unauthorized filming of concerts, etc. it seems like a great idea (to me at least) but it doesn't take a lot of imagination to see the potential for all sorts of "not so great" (for lack of a better term) uses for it. It'd be tough for Apple to do without regulation, and regulation requires government, and Apple and government already have a pretty checkered history.

Those girls look like they're enjoying themselves plenty. I think it's presumptuous to suggest that filming an experience removes the experiencing. Sure it changes it and maybe dilutes it some, but even that is case by case..

I´m with Rodge... When you´re truly listening there´s no room to hold a camera o shit like that...
I do get the idea of filming some underground-ghetto-it´snotgoingtohappenagain thing... People filming shows that are being filmed with pro cams just baffles me...

Those girls are not there for the music, but that´s another story.
