Hey HODers!
Long time no see!
Maybe some will remeber me :-} I was a regular on the HOD forums from 2003-2013.
I've been through lots of crap and changes in my life in the last years and didn't have time or the mood for drum things.
Just as I got back on the saddle with a new band, another hard blow came.
My girl friend Anne, 40 years old, has been diagnosed in January with a virulent stage 3 breast cancer.
She's now on heavy double chemotherapy since she has the HER2 genetic factor that speeds up cancer progression.
Her treatments leave her without energy or strength and several side effects. She had to abandon her nursing studies so her scholarship was cut and she has now no income.
She is a single mother of two children, which leave her in a very precarious financial situation.
Add to that the high cost of drugs to counteract side effects and that her relatives live far. She will have surgery this summer followed by intensive radiotherapy and hormonotherapy.
I do my best to help her but I can only do so much.
Diane, a good friend of her who is just out of a breast cancer had the idea of a benefit dinner and I said: "Why not do a special event with dinner and concert!"
So I'll play with my new band and we're organizing the event which will is sheduled on June 17th.
I know you won't be able to make it to the show but Diane's daughter put on a web fund raising campaign in her name for those who would like to donate and share on Facebook:

I know that the drumming community is a special one and very supportive.
I thank you in advance for your support and generosity!

Thanks for the support Pocket!
She lost all her hair, eyebrows and lashes but I still find her beautiful.

Re: I'm (almost) back! :)
Sorry to hear about this.
Modern society's most common illness is hitting quite hard in these parts too right now. 3 of my parents closest local friends just got diagnosed and there's not much to do. They're around 70 though, so altough sudden it's a little bit easier to accept.
Hope she pulls through. Love is the greatest healer.
All the best.

Thank you Arne!
One woman out of nine will have breast cancer in Canada, that's a lot!
We're now at 140 tickets sold for the benefit show.
We have a free venue and I managed to get the PA sponsored by Long & McQuade. We also have sponsors for food and beer.
She's afraid to cry all night with all this love!

So Saturday's event was a success, we raised 10k$ including the gofundme!
Thanks a lot to the HODers who donated.
It will help Anne and her kids a lot in the next months.
She will have tumor removal surgery on July 4th.
A+
