This solo has just ripped me a new one. Good grief....it is one of the best solos I've ever seen, by a long shot. I've never seen anyone play like that, even Billy.

That Van Helen vid was incredible! Unknown gig to me...
To see where a VH tune can go...into a rock boogie groove
with Simon pounding like a Swiss clock!
Jeff Skunk looks so much like Dr Johnny Fever!
Entwistle might be the coolest rock ever after it is all said and done.
Hiromi paired with Simon is what is art all about...she is insanely talented!

Re: SIMON PHILLIPS - The thread about Simon
Simon is SO unbelievably clean...he never strays too far from the core groove.
Isn't that the bass play from the Chaka gig Vinnie did? I just hate Stern's tone...
I wish he had the sound of a Barney Kessel, George M Smith, Howard Roberts,
Barry Galbraith or Bob Bain...but that's just me.
Simon also has not changed his "big kit" sound ever really. All the changes and he
sticks to his guns. His snare sounds off here...not as much "pop" as usual.
This was a really influential video for me...one of my first drum videos;
These have to be referred to as monster toms...they are HUGE!
Louie is also CLEAN...man oh man;
