I found a useful free notation software to make the transcriptions. Has great percussion support.

Here's my feedback Steve.
Great explanation as usual.
Great playing.
Really nice hats.
Ride, well what can I say, the dry light ride has been and still is my main ride on all gigs since about 2004, it's just a perfect ride and feels great to lay into.
I wonder if my question about 1/4 triplets on the bell (actually 1/2 note triplets) on your previous video inspired the metric modulation video. Maybe, maybe not.gif)
Thanks for the headsup on Musink, I've downloaded it and will have a play around.
How do you go between the room sound when you're talking and the production sound when you're playing? Are you just recording voice with a phone or regular camera and muting it in post to just hear the close mics and overheads when you start playing?

^^ Thanks - yes exactly. Talking audio is from the iPhone - drums from the mics.
Let me know how you find Musink!

More pretending to be a drummer.
Re: Steve Holmes vids
That sound freaking nice , very inspiring. You got a nice tone on your drum recording,
that said a lot about your technic and the way you hit the drums !!!!

One of my favorite little things you do is lay into a crash and then just hold your hand there for a couple of beats. Visually, it just makes a really strong statement. I'm stealing it!
Moderation's all well and good, just don't overdo it.

Steal away! I think it's a nice alternative to the traditional choke. Thanks for checking it out.

I've just picked up a Dry Light Ride on eBay and I'm excited to give it a try.

It should have a name.
- What did you play there?
- Oh, I just did a "Steve/Holmes."
