Hey, Rodge...what a find!!!
When I have time, I'm gonna watch the whole thing...kinda rushed right now (I could have done without those filters in the beginning)
Thanks for posting.

Yep...Marcus is so important musically. His work with Miles and David Sanborn....just whew. And...how about his playing with Gadd on Tom Scott's Apple Juice album!!!
I was finally able to watch the Jaco documentary (again...thanks Rodge). A few things:
1) Is anybody more eloquent than Peter Erskine? I don't think so.
2) The ending where Zawinul just gets up and walks away with his fadeout was just so soulful visually
3) Omar just killin' it on Teen Town (starting @ 48:34). Of course Marcus' playing wasn't shabby either
.gif)
4) I've never seen clips of Don Alias playing drums...just percussion. I was pretty psyched to see him behind the kit in the beginning of the video. Too bad they didn't include him playing anything
5) Alex sounded great in the few spots that showed him
6) I wish I understood French so I could make out what Paco was talking about
EDIT: You can turn on closed captioning, then what Paco is saying appears as subtitles. The downside is EVERYBODY who speaks appears as subtitles so you have to toggle it on and off as necessary if you find it annoying.
Since Jaco had such respect for the man...here's the guy that paved the way for melodic bass playing (bonus...Greg Hutchinson on drums for a little bit):

Thanks, Paul. Not really a Joni Mitchell fan. That's probably why I didn't know about that group. Metheny sounded great the from what I watched.
When in doubt...roll.

It's just that her music never really "reached" me. Just like there's probably food or styles of clothes that we don't like. There's no real reason...it's not that we think they're bad...we just don't like them.
Sorry to disappoint
