I see Josh and Manu are on Sting's new album.... Is Vinnie not working with him anymore, or did the timing just not work out this time?

Josh is the Sting man now for a while.
He plays with Sting now and again, not too long ago, but probably found his home with Herbie and Jeff and also getting old.
I thought it was pretty weak overall. One or two good ones. No song there that actually calls for Vinnie. Not much drums at all in general, really.
Sting will probably keep going on tour with Josh and play his greatest hits. That's sort of what he's been doing for awhile. Also what he did just a few years ago when I saw him here in Ålesund.

I was listening to a Sting playlist I had yesterday, great Police and solo songs and I realised just how bad this new album is! Lyrically and musically its just so poor, but mainly lyrically. Whatever mojo he had has gone and it breaks my heart to say it. I'm just glad that he hasn't lost his voice.

Yeah. At least he's got crazy amounts of good stuff to fall back on. Unique and speaks to musicians and average listeners alike.
Set the bar so high and there's a lot to consider if you want your next effort to succeed. To me this is going in the same direction as Bruce Willis.

I always loved that one, Vince plays so classy here, subtile shit, easy...
I can see him smile while recording that one.

New one from my pal Jeroen, audio only and way back. Some insane phrasing going on....

Yeah he played this 3/4 beat back in his clinic's days, he was already playing "Bruce Lee" too at that time, way before his album.
