YamahaPlayer....you made a good point. I'd like to check out the Yamaha brass snares. I don't like the Noveau lugs though. I may be able to find an older one on Ebay or Craigslist though.

You should try the Manu snare drum then. They sound killer, and since this is the last year you can get them, it should hold its value.

I like the Manu snare. It's another BB clone but a nice one.

Is there any truth to the rumor that the newer Manu snare shells are a different material than older ones? I hear guys are starting to seek out the ones from around the time when they first came out.

Probably the old ones were spun and the new ones have a welded seem.

Thanks again for all the replies fellas. Due to the lack of positive feedback for the 3 original drums I posted I plan on checking out Pearl's Sensitone Elite and Limited Edition Brass, which is supposed to be an updated Steve Ferrone model.

As far as the first two are concerned, I can't comment, but the World Max is very good. At least the shell is fantastic.

Drum Paradise in LA take the World Max snare and 'pimp' it with new hardware and heads. It's called the "Hitmaker" and according to them, it's their best and most popular rental drum out of their entire stock. I have one, but took off the die-cast hoops and replaced them with triple flanged ones. Much nicer...



I have 2 Black Beauty snares, neither of which I like. So expense isn't always an indication that something will be to your particular taste.
Best bet is to try them out, and then grab one...

I own a world Max 5 * 14 brass snare. Tuning range is incredible and the snare is very responsive. Lot of snare for this money ... just as good as a Ludwig .....
