deseipel, agree about the after-the-fact thing because the law says that if you want to have it, whatever the reason, you buy it. And definitely agree with the fact that before someone somewhere down the line had to pay for the album, and I agree that the internet does make it easier to steal.
I was not using the 'if people had to pay' thing as any excuse, and I agree that musicians (and everybody else) should be able to rely on a system and infrastructure which allows them to get paid for all the money, time, effort, love and everything else that goes into making music. I was just wondering about how music piracy losses are calculated and whether it's possible that the big record labels over exagerate it because their monopolies are being threatened. For me, the more people who release music independently, the better....power should be distributed amongst the masses, not concentrated at the hands of a few elite.

Listened to these over two days on my morning commute: very interesting insiight -Vinnie's a thoughtful, intelligent person with real passion about music, isn't he?
Can anyone help me by identifying the music clips used throughout both segments? I think Iknow a couple of 'em(the Herbie live clip of Actual Proof), but I'm not sure of the others.
thanks for any info

Good thread, the only thing I don't understand is what a "Justin beiber" is, but I'll google that, I only buy music I want these days, the record companies took all my money from me from age 8 to 18, I'm not angry at that, I just wonder why they only produce crap these days.... if I hadn't discovered drumming I wonder if I would be buying crap and sucking at the teat of the record companies, while gagging on commercial radio with....... commercials... We are the lucky ones, we know the difference. Back to my jeff lashway cd then.

I had this boot way before I had the one that starts with Vinnie walking in as the band starts playing "Goe". This is cool, but I prefer the other one because it has a much better view of Vinnie.

I assumed that the music clips were associated with the immediately prior subject matter: "Hey Vinnie, what was it like working with Jing Chi?" "Great" (music clip of Jing Chi follows)
Maybe google the group to hear some free samples?
