There’s a new promotional video over at Chick Corea.com showing the making of his upcoming CD entitled “The Ultimate Adventure”. The video shows Chick in the studio working with Steve Gadd, Vinnie Colaiuta, Tom Brechtline, and others.
Also newly released is the DVD Chick Corea Elektric Band: Live at Montreux 2004 which has over 2 hours of Weckl playing with the band that got a lot of us into jazz and fusion to begin with. Good stuff!

Thanks to Peter Erskine for letting us know he was playing in Santa Monica today, as well as to “Drumming Sort Of Person” for posting pics of the event a few hours later! All can be seen in the HOD forums here.
Also Vinnie did a gig with Pianist Randy Waldman recently, thanks to Shedder for posting a couple of nice pics here.

• Looks like Steve Gadd and Zildjian are doing a west coast clinic tour in October . Most of the dates are right here.
• My trio Altered is doing a gig at the Baked Potato Thursday, Sept 1st at 9:30 and 11pm. Altered is supporting their new CD, Graphic which is currently nowhere on the Top 40 charts.
• Thanks to “SingleStrk” on our forums for pointing out an interesting post over at the Drumsmith.com forums from someone who recently drum-teched for Vinnie Colaiuta (pics included).

• We lost some news from the Database but thanks to WebArchive.org we can get most of it back. 2002 news will be removed from the front page and the ALL NEWS link will be sorted out shortly.
• New forums are coming soon, hosted on the HOD server (no more Hostboard). There will be an announcement when it happens.
• Those not checking the forums often, Vinnie is on an upcoming Brian Bromberg recording currently available in Japan. Discussion and samples available here on the forum! (Thanks John Stevenson!)
• Omar Hakim recently finished a Pearl clinic tour. I had a chance to check Omar out, his groove is as beautiful as ever. A video is available here. (Thanks “Electrovision” on the forums)
• My trio ALTERED recently put out a new CD entitled GRAPHIC. Samples, ordering info, and a video short with studio footage all available here on the bands site.
• The Discography section on Vinnie Colaiuta’s web site seems to be keeping up to date. It includes ordering information for the new Mahivishnu, and Miles Davis tribute CD’s recently released.
• Serious Steve Smith fans can purchase his kit from early Journey recordings here on Ebay. The item has a “Buy it now” price of $10,000.
• Looks like Dave Weckl will be here at Catalina’s August 25-28th supporting his new CD “Multiplicity”. More info here on DaveWecklNews.com

Hot off the press; There will be a new Elektric band cd coming in Spring of 2004, recording starts in September at Chicks new Mad Hatter studios.
The video from the Rendezvous In New York shows is being edited and will soon be released. All this according to Chick Corea’s web site so stay tuned!

The new Faith Hill DVD “When the Lights Go Down” hits stores today, this is from the show that aired on CBS last November. Lots of Vinnie on camera.
Also in stores today, Niacin(Chambers, Novello, Sheehan) “Blood Sweat and Beers”. originally only on DVD as an import now becomes available in audio cd and is available in the US.

Well it would seem a hardy HELLO goes out to Mr. Peter Erskine for visiting the message board. It’s been known many industry people and musicians look in from time to time but never really respond or chime in, maybe others will follow and add from time to time. Thanks Peter for joining in!

There has been a discussion going on in the forums about Zappa charts with Vinnie. Marc Atkinson was kind enough to send over a PDF of Keep It Greasy from Joe’s Garage. Marc will be releasing a book on Vinnie transcriptions this summer thru Warner Brothers.
