I disagree to most of you guys, Dennis played great and it was a great song for him. The kit looks like the one he used when he recorded his DCI drum videos (the bass drum head is the same).
Dennis doesn't warm up.

Good song for him, but I think not appropiate for the TV show.
We all know Dennis KILLS this type of grooves...and beyond.

That's exactly what I thought as well. Not my favorite DC solo but always nice to see him "chew".

I loved all drummers of that week, it was all different, we could hear their own style, drum sound was good for all, it was very fun and entairtening, great show.

PS : I don't know why, but I don't want Vinnie do that show, I think he will not do it, he does not like to be where everybody are, it's also one the reason why I love the guy.

Brings back tons of memories. I loved it back then too. I haven't watched with any regularity in years. Remember Edie McClurg on the morning show?

First, IMO Cissy Strut was too slow and that affected the energy right from the start....Second, I do think Dennis was deliberately holding back to keep from losing the musician.

The tempo was very close to original. I blame the horns for the flatness . . fuc*in' horn players . I do think DC was holding back a bit.

I hope there are lots more drum solo weeks... maybe a "Young Lions" week would be cool (if not completely impractical) with:
Fizenden
Gergo
Chris Dave
Nasheet Waits

& Vinnie of course.
