I saw Buddy in 82' and again in 86'. I understand that he had a heart attack, or two, in that time. And, the difference in his appearance and his playing (in terms of energy), was striking. In 82' he was a monster. He looked and played like half his age. In 86' he was still Buddy, but, you could clearly see he wasn't feeling well.

Yeah, saw BR on one of his last gigs at Disneyland. He was brilliant. Small little gig w/his band at Disneyland...and he played like it was the biggest gig ever. Love the passion and professionalism...the guy had serious moxie! He did look old, no doubt, but the average fan wouldn't know it and loved the performance. It was Buddy Rich!
